1. What is this?
The idea is to try and sell 1,000,000 pixels (in blocks of 100 pixels each). Why you may ask, well that’s simple, for the same reason the inventor of this marvellous idea started his website, to pay for my studies. I want to take some courses in business management and IT and start a BEE (Black Economic Empowerment) business. But college is not cheap, and faced with the prospect of graduating after 1-3 years with a massive student loan, does not sound appealing to anyone. So I decided to create this!

2. Who am I?
My name is Paul, I'm 17 years young and I live in Cape Town. I'll be starting at Varsity College at the end of my matric year where I will be studying Business Management. In between I am considering taking different courses to help me along the way (E.G. A+, A++, C, Website creator, etc.).

3. Are you genuine/is this a joke?
Well you have probably heard of this type of thing before… but as you see there are already genuine businesses on the grid. Hopefully very soon there will be very little space available on this medium. I am completely genuine and although you may be amused by this thing, it is not a joke! I really am selling pixels for R1 each, because I don't want a monstrous student loan when I graduate.

4. How did you come up with the idea?

5. Why do you need R1m for College?
Textbooks and fees are expensive. Well not really, and they’re not that extortionate! But I have set my sights high, even if I only get 1 or 2 percent of a million bucks would help a long way to sorting out my college funding and if i can help some underprivileged schools on the way that's what it's all about.

6. What will you do with the money?
Of course my first and foremost obligation is to pay my way through mt schooling college plus all those little extras. That includes 1-3 years worth of tuition fees, accommodation fees, textbooks and involving expenses like petrol and so on..

I will be donating 10% to less fortunate schools. I believe education is the only way forward. (Donations will be handed over once a month.)

Next i would like to thank parents for all the help and support they have given me for 17 years. Perhaps a shortish holiday will do the trick (WOO HOO).

7. Why should I buy your pixels?
If you are a start-up business or small company you may want more businesses or people to have a look at your website. You will have an image linked to your web site on a site that could potentially be seen by millions of people over the coming years. Even If you are an established company it is a fantastic opportunity to show off your wonderful brand. The site will be online for at least 5 but the idea is to keep it online for as long as humanly possible. So you really could own a piece of 'South African Internet history’, help out some disadvantaged schools and be remembered for your efforts. If you are hosting a competition then why not have a link on our site that encourages people to your site. If you want to have a bit of fun and promote an event or even show off to your friends – what a perfect medium to do it with. Not convinced? 8. What if i don't have a website but would like my logo on the grid?
That's no problem. What you can do is simply add all the necessary details into the 'Title for Your Pixels: ' bar when buying pixels, for example into the title bar type a business description eg. 'Phone number x Fax 999 999 9999 we sell a wide range of products etc. please email us: myemail@yourdomain.co.za'. I am also willing to host a one page website for a mere R10 month, I will design and host your one page website for R300. 10. Why can't I buy one single pixel?
I decided that although it would probably be cool if individuals could buy a single pixel each, in practise, it wouldn't so effective. The reason I believe this is because you can't display anything meaningful in one pixel - nor click it easily - so visually, it would be pointless. With thousands of random tiny coloured dots all over the place, the entire site would look ghastly.

I also thought that the site would appeal more to people with businesses/websites to advertise than it would to individuals, or to put it more accurately, businesses would pay more to have a meaningful graphic on the grid. Hence the minimum purchase is R100 - a 10x10 block. This is a challenge to businesses of South Africa; can you step up to the challenge?

11. If you want money for college, why don't you get a job?
Although I've done many different jobs in the past, (waiter, temp work, house sitter etc.) it's not really how my brain likes to work. My natural disposition is to think of ideas, and I like to create interesting things and ways of doing things. Plus this is much more fun to do, with a potential higher reward.

12. Can I sell my space?
Yes. You may at any time sell your space to some one else. However the new owner will have to pay for a re-registration fee of 10% of the site value.
